Science Led. Audience Driven. Always.

A Bit About MVC

Multivalent Communications (MVC) specializes in synthesizing and sharing technical information for a variety of audiences in the Life Sciences and Chemicals sectors. Inspired by multivalent materials that engage multiple receptors simultaneously to strengthen recognition, MVC designs our offerings to span the continuum of scientific and medical communications: from experts to the public and everyone in between.

What is Multivalency?

Multivalency is a prevalent principle used in biological systems to generate strong yet reversible molecular interactions between components. During multivalent binding events, a scaffolded collection of ligands engages multiple receptors simultaneously, thereby establishing a stronger connection.

Multivalent interactions are hallmarked by being greater than the sum of their individual binding parts. In addition, the reversible nature of multivalent interactions provides release mechanisms that enable further tuning and modification as needed by the biological system.

Multivalent recognition plays a central part in countless key biological activities, including cell-cell communication, signal transduction, host-pathogen recognition, and beyond.

Our Work

Taking inspiration from this molecular phenomenon, Multivalent Communications delivers informative and engaging scientific communications programs, reports, and content across all levels of technical understanding. Though a science-led approach and sector expertise make technical research and communications a core strength, MVC can help you mediate numerous stakeholder boundaries, from subject matter experts and investors to policymakers and the public.

By building off of detailed knowledge scaffolds, MVC’s offerings are designed to be modular and adaptable, such that scientific and medical information can be presented in the right format, at the right time, to the right audience, without losing technical accuracy. By presenting information and core messages in united packages, MVC can help you engage a wide range of audiences and connect them through your scientific story.

Founder Background

Christopher J. Fisher, Ph.D., founder and principal of Multivalent Communications, is a chemical biologist and scientific communicator who passionately advocates for science's vital place in society. Chris specializes in conveying scientific information to both internal and external stakeholders at all levels of expertise to better serve the needs of the life science community and society at large. He has developed effective strategies and executed communications activities for a wide range of companies and organizations, from start-ups to some of the world's largest life science companies. Chris is based in the Boston area and holds a Ph.D. from UC San Diego, where he studied carbohydrate-mediated biomolecular binding and cellular recognition.
